The evolution of a renaissance ensemble

In 2012 I started sewing a renaissance ensemble, it was my fist self made costume. It was not a historically correct as it could have been but I think I did good for my first try. I made it for a renaissance fair set in the 1580's.

Simplicity 9256- The pattern I used

2012 on the drawbridge

With a bumroll and gigantic sleeves you feel gorgeous!

The following year I made an underdress to go under a lot of my historical dresses, I know that it is not the way of the renaissance maidens to wear so few garments but I wanted to get the clown like sleeves away.

2013- Peasant eating a candied apple

I skipped the bumroll because I strived for more of a peasant look.

2014- Green and green is always the answer

This year I made a new bodice and a coif,  I used patterns from The Tudor tailor. I am not married so I shouldn't wear a coif but I had cut my hair short just before so I decided it was better to pretend to be married than to be inaccurate. I am going to ad a skirt to the bodice and sew a partlet before next time.
